Warriors Look to Hold Serve with Another Win in Game 2

OAKLAND, CA - APRIL 14: Kevin Durant
OAKLAND, CA - APRIL 14: Kevin Durant

The Warriors flipped the switch and dominated Game 1 against the Spurs. Can they follow that up with a similar performance in Game 2?

The Warriors came out with a brand new starting lineup for the playoffs and the Spurs were clearly not ready for it.

Andre Iguodala, Klay Thompson, Kevin Durant, Draymond Green, and JaVale McGee hadn’t played a single minute together during the regular season, but they looked like the perfect non-Steph lineup as San Antonio had no answer for them.

With a day off to break down the film, we can expect the Spurs to look much more prepared in Game 2, but they may not have the firepower to keep up in this series.

San Antonio was blown out in Game 1 of last year’s playoff series against Houston, but they came back to beat them in six games. The Warriors need to keep their foot on the gas in Game 2 to keep that home court advantage.

It will be interesting to see how the Warriors’ center rotation continues to play out in Game 2. Will Steve Kerr stick with JaVale McGee, David West, and Kevon Looney, or will he give some minutes to Jordan Bell and Zaza Pachulia?

I’d expect Kerr to go with McGee, West, and Looney again after it worked out so well in Game 1, but he might want to mix it up with a different look every game.

It will be exciting to see if Kerr has any other tricks up his sleeve in this series.
