Golden State Warriors: Grading each player in the first round
With the Golden State Warriors set to face the New Orleans Pelicans in the second round of the 2018 NBA Playoffs on Saturday, let’s take a look back at GSW’s first round series with the San Antonio Spurs and grade each Dubs player.
After a five-game, first-round series with the San Antonio Spurs, the reigning NBA champion Golden State Warriors have finally moved on to the second round of the 2018 NBA Playoffs.
Stumbling in Game 4 at the AT&T Center, the Dubs took care of business back in Oakland at Oracle Arena, defeating the Spurs 99-91.
Kevin Durant led the scoring effort for Golden State, pacing the Warriors with 25 points, six rebounds, five assists, one steal and two blocks in 41 minutes. He shot 8-of-19 from the field and 8-of-8 from the free throw line, but he’s continued to shoot poorly from long range, going just 1-of-8 from behind the arc.
Klay Thompson was right behind KD, dropping in 24 points, five rebounds, four assists and one block in 41 minutes of play. He went 11-of-22 from the field and a perfect 1-of-1 from the charity stripe, but he, too, had trouble from three, shooting 1-of-5 from long.
Draymond Green was the only other Warriors player to finish in double-digit scoring, tallying 17 points on 5-of-11 shooting. He played 40 minutes, recording a double-double with 19 rebounds and seven assists.
The Warriors will now refocus their efforts to defeating Anthony Davis and the New Orleans Pelicans come Saturday night. Before that game tips off, let’s take a look at each of the Warriors players that participated in the first round.
