Golden State Warriors: Grading each player in the first round
Shaun Livingston: B
Shaun Livingston really stepped up for the Warriors in the first round, averaging 9.4 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists on 51.4 percent shooting from the field and 91.4 percent shooting from the free throw line.
We talk about Andre Iguodala having a switch, but Livingston was most definitely the unsung hero of the first round. I think out of all the Warriors, Livingston was the most assertive offensively, never hesitating whenever he was presented with a scoring opportunity.
Like Cook, I think Livingston suffered a bit due to Golden State’s gameplan revolving around KD bringing the ball up. As dangerous as a KD walk-up three may be, I’d much rather see the Warriors run some pick-and-roll or some weak side action to get easy buckets.
And as much as I like Livingston as a finisher, there’s nothing like watching teams scramble trying to pick up KD and Klay off the ball. Sure, post Livingston up on the block, but first have him bring the ball up, initiate a pass to the wing, then cut to where he wants to receive the ball.
