Golden State Warriors completely dominate Pelicans in Game 1
The Golden State Warriors made a statement to start the second round against the New Orleans Pelicans, taking Game 1 on Saturday 123-101.
The Golden State Warriors started the second round off on the right foot, defeating the New Orleans Pelicans 123-101 on Saturday at Oracle Arena. The Dubs take a 1-0 lead in the series heading into Game 2, which is scheduled for Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. PDT.
The Warriors and the Pelicans looked to be pretty evenly matched shortly after tip-off, starting the game with a 35-34 lead for the blue and gold. All of sudden, the reigning NBA champions woke up after a long, 5-game slumber, dropping in a 41-21 second quarter to end the first half up by 21.
While GSW struggled a bit offensively in the third, they continued to suffocate the Pelicans, limiting New Orleans to just 19 points in the third quarter. Golden State finished off the night in extended garbage time, successfully putting away the Pels with another 20-point quarter.
Considering what we saw from the Warriors and the Pelicans this evening, this series is bound to be an incredibly high scoring affair. With both teams looking to play fast, there’s no doubt the second round will be far more entertaining than the first round against the San Antonio Spurs — especially with Stephen Curry set to make his 2018 NBA Playoffs debut in Game 2.
