The Golden State Warriors pushed their second round series lead over the New Orleans Pelicans to 2-0 thanks to the return of one former back-to-back MVP.

Following up a dominant 123-101 victory last Saturday at Oracle Arena, the reigning NBA champion Golden State Warriors successfully pushed their second round lead to 2-0 on Tuesday, defeating the New Orleans Pelicans 121-116.

The Warriors started off incredibly flat, failing to build any kind of momentum to begin the night. That all changed when Steph Curry checked in for the first time since March 25, providing the Dubs with the energy necessary to finish the first half up by three.

The game remained highly contested in the third quarter with both teams continuing to trade baskets, ending with a two-point lead for the blue and gold. Things got a bit dicey near the end as the Pelicans made their comeback run, but the Warriors were successfully able to close out the night with some directed time management.

The Dubs will now head down south to The Big Easy, where they’ll hopefully close out the series. Game 3 is scheduled for Friday at the Smoothie King Center, while Game 4 will occur on Sunday.

Draymond Green was all over the court once again, dropping in 20 points, nine rebounds, 12 assists, one steal and two blocks. He played 41 minutes, shooting 7-of-11 from the field, 2-of-5 from long range and 4-of-5 from the charity stripe.

Kevin Durant posted 29 points, six rebounds, seven assists, two steals and three blocks in 41 minutes, while Klay Thompson tallied 10 points, six rebounds and three assists. Both Klay and KD had an off night shooting, combining for 15-of-43 shooting overall (4-of-18 from three-point range).
