Warriors forward Patrick McCaw has been progressing in his recovery, and hopes to make a return to the court this postseason.
One of the Warriors’ most promising young players, Patrick McCaw, has been out of the lineup ever since he went down hard after being undercut by Vince Carter during a layup attempt against the Kings on March 31st.
The injury was diagnosed as a “lumbosacral bone bruise,” which is less serious than what the Warriors’ team doctors may have thought when McCaw said he lost feeling in his lower body and was taken off the court on a stretcher.
The Warriors’ PR department released a statement regarding McCaw’s recovery this week saying that he’s been ”making steady functional progress” and “has been cleared to begin modified on-court shooting and running drills.”
Even though that statement sounded encouraging, I didn’t think there was much of a chance that he would be able to play again before the beginning of next season.

McCaw is thinking much more positively than my prediction as he told the Undefeated’s Marc J. Spears that his “main goal” is to return before the postseason is over.
The Warriors’ PR release said that McCaw will be re-evaluated again in four weeks, which would not give him much time to make a triumphant return.
That timetable would probably force him to come back during the NBA Finals, which would be a tough spot to try to work himself back into shape after sitting out for two months.
I’m rooting for McCaw to get healthy and be back in uniform before this season is over, but I think it’s highly unlikely that he makes it on the court again this year.
