It’s been a month in a half since Patrick McCaw has suited up for the Warriors, but he will be on the court for pregame warmups before Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals.

Patrick McCaw took a hard fall on his lower back after being undercut on a drive to the hoop against the Sacramento Kings on March 31.

McCaw was attended to on the ground for an extended amount of time and admitted that he lost some feeling in his legs after the fall.

He was eventually carted off the floor and diagnosed with a “lumbosacral bone bruise,” which was a less serious diagnosis than some initially feared.

According to the Warriors’ PR release from about a week ago, McCaw has been “making steady functional progress” in his recovery and he’s “been cleared to begin modified on-court shooting and running drills.”

McCaw’s progress has allowed the Warriors’ medical staff to clear him for participation in warmups ahead of Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals in Houston, according to Yahoo Sports’ Shams Charania.

His return to the team could give Golden State a bit of an emotional boost as McCaw seems very well-liked among his teammates.

McCaw has bigger things in mind than simply going through the layup line. He told the Undefeated’s Marc J. Spears that his “main goal” is to come back before the postseason is over.

Obviously he doesn’t have much time to achieve that goal, but a victory over Houston in Game 1 could go a long way in making that dream come true this season.
