The Warriors are planning to offer Draymond Green a contract extension this offseason, but Draymond is expected to turn it down.
The Warriors are on cloud nine after winning back-to-back titles and their third championship in four years.
However, their focus must quickly turn to the offseason and figure out how they can keep this team together moving forward.
It’s going to be extremely expensive to keep all four All-Stars in Golden State, but owner Joe Lacob told ESPN’s Ramona Shelbourne that he’s ready to shell out the big bucks.
“All good things cost a lot,” said Lacob.
Lacob also told Shelbourne that the Warriors will attempt to sign Klay Thompson and Draymond Green to contract extensions this summer along with an extension for Kevin Durant, who is an unrestricted free agent.
While we’ve heard the good news that Klay is reportedly willing to take a pay cut to stay in Golden State, ESPN’s Chris Haynes reports that Draymond will turn down a contract extension this summer.

Haynes writes that Green has two years remaining on his current deal, and he would be eligible for a three-year $72 million extension that would kick in at the beginning of the 2020-21 season.
Haynes’ sources believe Draymond will reject that offer because he could be in line for a much bigger contract in the future.
If Green wins another Defensive Player of the Year award, makes an All-NBA team, or wins an MVP award, he would be eligible for the league’s “super-max” contract. That new deal would pay him $226 million over five years once his current contract expires.
While the MVP award is probably an unrealistic goal, Draymond has a very good chance of winning a second Defensive Player of the Year award or making the All-NBA team for the third time in his career.

Questions have begun to arise about which superstar will be the first one to leave Golden State.
While rejecting this contract extension doesn’t necessarily mean Green wants to leave, it will create some uncertainty regarding his future with the Warriors.
With that five-year “super-max” contract in sight, we can expect Draymond to give an all-out effort next season to make an All-NBA team or win Defensive Player of the Year again.
