Jonas Jerebko is expected to sign with the Golden State Warriors once he clears waivers. Here’s three reasons why I strongly believe he’ll be a great fit with the Dubs.
The reigning NBA champion Golden State Warriors took another step in the right direction per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, who announced Saturday morning that newly waived free agent forward Jonas Jerebko intends to sign with the defending champs once he clears waivers on Monday.
A nine-year veteran of the NBA, Jerebko holds career averages of 6.2 points, 4.0 rebounds, 0.8 assists, 0.5 steals and 0.2 blocks in 18.0 minutes. He played 74 games with the Utah Jazz this past season, averaging 5.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, 0.6 assists, 0.3 steals and 0.2 blocks in 15.3 minutes.
The 31-year-old stretch forward was waived by the Jazz on Saturday, joining 2018’s incredibly intriguing free agent pool. A team could still possibly impede Golden State’s plan to sign the 6-foot-10 wingman by directly claiming Jerebko’s $4.2 million contract off waivers, or they could simply try offering him more than just the veteran minimum.
Don’t let his numbers fool you– on paper, Jerebko checks off many of the boxes on Golden State’s list of needs heading into next season. Should he clear waivers without a hiccup, there’s little doubt he’ll prove a solid fit with the Dubs — and here’s why.
