Kevin Durant has become known for responding to haters on social media, but should have just kept scrolling past his most recent critic?

Kevin Durant has received endless criticism ever since his decision to join the Warriors in 2016 made them the most talented team in NBA history.

Last summer he was busted for controlling anonymous Twitter accounts that defended his own honor on the internet. This weekend he decided to put his name behind his response by directly commenting on a post from the Instagram user bucketscenter that is run by a “teenage basketball analyst” named “Kalyb Champion.”

The post included a picture of KD, Kawhi Leonard and Anthony Davis listing them as “3 elite two way players but don’t elevate a team quite like LeBron and Steph due to their playmaking/leadership deficiencies.”

Durant directly commented on the post saying, “Bruh go sweep ya dorm room, u don’t know hoops. Stop tagging me in this trash.”

KD didn’t just voice his opinion in the comment section.

He continued to argue with bucketscenter in the direct messages section of Instagram calling the user a “middle school/knock off stephen a.” Durant later apologized for that comment in a series of direct messages that went on for a while.

I’m really torn on this topic.

On one hand, I think athletes and celebrities should be free to respond to these internet trolls that constantly talk trash about them. On the other hand, it doesn’t look good for a person as successful as KD to care so much about what a “teenage basketball analyst” on Instagram thinks about them.

If I were Durant, I would stop looking at my mentions entirely. He makes enough money to have someone read them for him if there happens to be something important in there.

However, that’s easy for me to say considering the only aggressive mentions I receive are a couple of people that are upset about a certain article I write.

At the very least, KD should turn his phone off for a few days and take some time to enjoy his back-to-back championships and Finals MVP’s before getting ready for a three-peat next season.
