The Warriors introduced their newest All-Star DeMarcus Cousins in a press conference with Bob Myers on Thursday.

It’s been a couple of weeks and some other major moves have happened since the Warriors surprisingly signed DeMarcus Cousins. But the NBA is still in shock that Golden State was able to add another All-NBA player to their already-stacked roster.

The Warriors set up their first press conference with their newest All-Star to introduce him to Golden State’s fans and the swath of media that covers the team.

Boogie began the press conference by talking about how he gets along with his new teammates.

Cousins mentioned that his favorite player on the team is Klay Thompson.

DeMarcus went on to say there’s “never a dull moment” when you’re with Klay, and that they’ve spent many weekends together over the past few offseasons.

Cousins also said that “me and Draymond clicked right away” when he met his newest frontcourt partner. Draymond and Boogie both have big personalities, but it sounds like their early interactions have all been positive.

When it came time for the media to ask questions, Cousins’ Achilles injury was the hottest topic.

Boogie said his timetable for a return to the court is “to be determined”, but he did say he’s progressing and getting stronger every week during rehab.

Cousins went on to say that he’s spoken with many players who have suffered Achilles injuries, including Kobe Bryant and Dominique Wilkins, about their mindset during recovery and that those conversations have been helpful.

Boogie continued by saying “time is on my side” regarding his recovery, and that it helps that “I’m not needed right away.” Cousins knows there is no need to rush his rehab from a serious injury and that the Warriors will be just fine while he’s on the sidelines.

General manager and president of basketball operations Bob Myers talked about how the Warriors haven’t had a player like Cousins who has been such a dominant post scorer.

Myers talked about a conversation he had with Steve Kerr where his head coach told Myers that he’s especially excited about what Boogie can bring to Golden State’s post offense. Myers went on to say that Cousins will play a role on the perimeter, but their emphasis will be getting him the ball down low.

This press conference was meant to get Warriors fans even more excited about their biggest offseason addition heading into next year.

We learned that Cousins has a realistic perspective on his Achilles recovery and that Golden State views him as more of a post scorer than a perimeter playmaker.

We still don’t know when he’ll be back on the floor, but there is no doubt he will bring even more attention to the most interesting and dominant team in the league.
