The 2018-2019 Golden State Warriors might be the best 2K team ever
While we have to wait and see if the real Golden State Warriors three-peat, we don’t have to wait to game with them. The new 2K19 is out now.
With NBA 2K19 out everywhere, the question about the Golden State Warriors dominance both on the real and virtual hardwood have people wondering if they might be the best 2K team of all time. That answer seems to be a pretty easy yes too.
For starters, there is a Golden State Warrior in the top-five for each position. You read that correctly. The starting lineup of Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Kevin Durant, Draymond Green and DeMarcus Cousins are respectively ranked 95, 89, 97, 87 and 90.
Steph Curry is 2K’s highest-rated point guard while Klay brings the backcourt up as 2K’s No. 4 shooting guard. Durant comes in at the second highest rated small forward, only behind LeBron James, the game’s highest rated player.
At the four, Draymond Green comes in behind LaMarcus Aldridge, Kristaps Porzingis and Anthony Davis. Then, the injured DeMarcus Cousins is the second highest center.
Just to showcase how rare having five players ranked this high is, let’s take a peek at a few of the more recent NBA teams and their all-time teams.
The Memphis Grizzlies, who have been in the league 23 years, have both Gasol’s, Conley, and Zach Randolph come up as the highest rated Grizzlies in team history. While not many other teams have such a short history, it’s already clear that the Warriors have an elite 2K team, a team better than several all-time great lineups.
The only thing that could hold the Golden State Warriors back from behind the league’s best team ever is the return of DeMarcus Cousins and how he is integrated into their system. Can he return to the player that was a nightly triple-double threat and was also an elite defensive big?
Since Cousins is given such a high rating and his production might not match that rating, the team might not be as good as their 2K counterparts. After all, Cousins is just one of 14 players to be given a 90 or above, and returning from an Achilles injury as a top-ten force again would be a miracle for Boogie this season.
While you may be a huge Golden State Warriors fan, for the integrity of the game and your friendships, you might want to pick a different squad.
