Golden State Warriors: Stephen Curry will finish this season third on all-time 3-point list
By Tony Pesta
Stephen Curry is one of the most prolific shooters the game of basketball has ever seen.
Since his college days in Davidson, Stephen Curry has been a deep range deadeye. His ability to shoot the ball from beyond the arc is unprecedented. This talent has made Curry an all-time elite scorer.
During his nine seasons in the NBA, Steph has shattered a number of 3-point records. He broke the record for most 3-pointers in a single season three separate times. He also holds the mark for most 3-pointers made in both a regular season game and playoff game.
His historic 2015-16 unanimous MVP season is a staple for the greatest shooting season in NBA history. He became the first player to ever hit 400+ 3-pointers in a single season. He also accomplished this while being the first player to average 30+ points per game while shooting 50 percent from the field, 45 percent from the 3-point line and 90 percent from the free-throw line.
It’s no secret that Curry has been skyrocketing up the all-time lists. The NBA has never seen a player that can shoot at such a high rate. Furthermore, Steph’s ball handling skills are on par with the best to ever do it. This makes him deadly in all facets of the game.
Currently, Curry is sitting in seventh place for total 3-pointers made in a career. All six of the players ahead of him have played at least 1,100 career games. Curry has played in just 625 games. In fact, he is the only player in the top-10 to have played in under 1,000 games.
As of now, Curry is only 153 3-pointers away from reaching third place on the all-time list. The last time he failed to make that many 3-pointers in a season was during the 2011-12 season. This was because he played just 26 games due to multiple ankle injuries.
It seems almost guaranteed that Curry will surpass this mark and move up to third place. Barring any major injuries, this achievement should occur during the 40th game of the season. This game could potentially come against notable teams such as the Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Lakers.
If Curry continues this rate of shooting, he will move passed Ray Allen for number one on the list by the end of the 2020-21 season. Steph would be only 32 years old when he accomplishes this goal. Solidifying himself as the greatest shooter in the history of the game.
