What does Golden State Warriors superstar forward Kevin Durant obtain by leaving the Bay and joining the New York Knicks like some suggest?

Just as LeBron James did over the past half a decade, Kevin Durant is forcing the Golden State Warriors’ hand by opting to sign two-year deals that give him the ability to opt out after one season.

These type of deals, for Golden State, doesn’t necessarily vary how they conduct their business, but it certainly is ideal for the drama side of it. And, with Kevin Durant, there’s been quite the drama over the last few months.

The most recent rumbling suggest that Durant might on his way to New York this offseason. While absolutely no one knows where Durant will end up, according to Clutch Points, “narrative” will play a big factor in his 2019-2020 destination.

There are a few ways fans can assume Durant would take for a narrative storyline.

One way it might play out is absolutely the least dramatic way possible. That is, Kevin Durant, signs another one- or two-year deal with the Golden State Warriors. He can continue helping the Warrior wonderboy Stephen Curry win championships.

That might be the best move his career perspective. While many might put asterisks by his titles, think about Durant winning his third this season, topping James the season after and ending his career with five or six rings.

Would many then place him in their top-five if not top-three players of all-time?

The second way narrative could play a factor is if Durant and his gang put the pressure and parity back in the league, potentially taking his talents out East to the New York Knicks or possible his hometown Washington Wizards.

Both ways impact his legacy, but when we look back on all-time greats of the game, are we really going to detail how they got their rings? No, we’re just going to see four scoring titles, five rings, maybe 12 All-Star appearances and equally as many All-NBA appearances.

Then, we wouldn’t assume he’s one of the greats, we’d know he is.

Next. Which current players are headed to the Hall of Fame?. dark

For Durant, his path to an elite legacy is through the Bay, and if narrative plays a role, he should stick around in the Bay, continuing to prove his haters wrong.
