Golden State Warriors: 3 reasons the Dubs should re-sign Nick Young
The Golden State Warriors and Nick Young have yet to work on a deal, but should the Dubs even re-sign the former Laker sharpshooter?
It seemed like a weird combination the first time the signing of Nick Young to the Golden State Warriors was announced last offseason. However, over time, we saw Young flourish, winning his first title with the Dubs last season.
Young didn’t play a huge role and might’ve actually played a far less impactful role than he hoped for. That’s not to downplay the impact that Young did have as one of the Dubs main second unit scoring options.
Albeit he did play under 18 minutes per game, Young made those minutes count. Per 36 minutes, Young averaged exactly 15 points. Per game, he was down to just 7.3 though, tying his career-low average.
While that might not have been ideal, Young knew coming into the season that his role would be marginal. On a team that also boasted four legit stars and two superstar talents, the Dubs were loaded and just about every player’s stats took a hit.
Judging Warriors’ excellence and impact based on figures doesn’t always pose the best gauge for their respective success. Young was a helpful asset throughout the season and into the postseason as Curry struggled with ankle injuries.
Moving forward, the Golden State Warriors should re-sign Nick Young, and here are three reasons why.
