Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green is ‘excited as hell’ to have former Pelicans big man DeMarcus Cousins in the Bay.

We all knew bringing another superstar to the Golden State Warriors would be exciting, but Draymond Green is a little extra pumped to have Cousins on board.

He expressed that excitement to the Undefeated’s Marc Spears just over a month ago.

"“We are excited as hell to have ‘Cuz’ here. ‘Cuz’ is a top-five talent in this league with something to prove.”"

With a top-five talent at all five positions, the Golden State Warriors surplus of talent on one NBA roster is something to marvel at. They’ve developed quite possibly the NBA’s most talented team of all-time.

Last season, Cousins put up numbers that had never been seen before. He was the first player in NBA history to average over 25 points, 12.5 rebounds, five assists, a block, a steal and at least two threes.

That’s quite an impressive feat and certainly showcases Cousins’ versatility both offensively and defensively.

However, an Achilles rupture can set a player’s mobility forward years. He might not be the same player that put up those figures once he returns. Nonetheless, he will still, for the foreseeable future, be a starter in the league.

For the Warriors, having another piece of a championship puzzle is exactly what this offseason needed. Albeit, they definitely did not need Cousins. The Warriors won the last two titles and only lost a total of six playoff games in those two postseasons.

They’ve been the definition of dominance over the last two seasons. Draymond Green, the one seemingly most thrilled to add Cousins, has been a focal point of the Warriors gameplan over their few championship seasons.

Green’s shot did regress last season, but his impact did quite the opposite. One of the league’s most impactful defenders, Green’s on-court and off-court presence will always be felt, one staple of his leadership.
