Golden State Warriors
NEW ORLEANS, LA – OCTOBER 20: DeMarcus Cousins /

The Golden State Warriors and DeMarcus Cousins combination was not meant to happen. But, it did, and GS can eventually turn a profit from it.

Let’s by no means assume that it will happen, but when eligible, it would make sense for the Golden State Warriors to eventually trade DeMarcus Cousins. On a one-year contract, they would certainly not receive his true value in any deal.

The former Pelican center put up unreal stats last season prior to his season-ending Achilles injury. He actually was the first player ever to average 25+ points, 12.5+ rebounds, 5+ assists, 1+ steals, 1+ block, and over two threes per game.

Elected as a starter to the All-Star game, it seemed like the Pelicans season to actually bring chaos to the West. Well, that injury was a complete game changer. For starters, it cost Boogie what could’ve been a huge max contract this offseason.

Secondly, it cost him his first real chance at team success. Boogie’s Pelicans and Kings had never been deep to the playoffs or even to the playoffs before. This was going to be potentially his postseason run, looking in peak form.

Late in the game, one rebound changed all that. And, even after he returns, he could be shipped prior to a successful postseason run.

That said, here are four reasons why the Golden State Warriors should eventually consider trading the talented big man.
