Unlikeliness to Return

DeMarcus Cousins signed a one-year, $5.3 million deal. The contract was mutually beneficial, but the relationship certainly wasn’t meant to last.

Boogie was basically sent for a one-year trip to Golden State in order to increase his value. When he went down last season, Cousins lost millions. He went from max contract value to less than six million per year. Do we remember those averages? He’s worth far more than six million.

But, no team wanted to pay big money to a player that sustained a gruesome injury like Boogie.

That said, his trip to the Bay will do a few things for him personally. It will allow him a pressure-free environment to become completely pain-free and mobile prior to playing. After all, the Dubs won’t be too hard-pressed for a playoff spot.

It will also allow him to showcase his value. Boogie, upon his return, wouldn’t be ready to take on the workload that a team paying him 20+ million would expect. He can come back and thrive without too high of expectations.

Not to mention, as long as he’s healthy and on the Warriors, he’ll be able to experience a highly success playoff run.

However, why not trade Cousins? If there is an offer, you might as well since he most likely won’t be returning this offseason anyway. And, nonetheless, just like reason No. 4 will say, it’s not like the Dubs need Cousins to be successful anyway.
