Golden State Warriors: Kevin Durant ranked a top-25 player of all time
The Golden State Warriors signed Kevin Durant two summers ago, and now, with two rings, he’s considered a top-25 player of all time.
The Golden State Warriors superstar Kevin Durant was No. 24 in HoopsHabit’s top-50 overall NBA players of all time. He was preceded by 2x MVP teammate Stephen Curry who came in at No. 19 overall.
Here’s how the article kicked off the section on Durant.
"Forget about how Kevin Durant got his first title by joining the super-team Golden State Warriors. Now that he has two NBA championships to his name, he’s officially one of the 25 greatest players of all time."
The best is quite possibly still to come for one of the league’s most unstoppable scorers of all time. His Dubs should win a third straight title, even further solidifying his claim to being a top-25 player.
However, even without titles, you couldn’t discredit the immense success Durant has seen.
He did in the first five years of his career what many dream of accomplishing during their entire careers. Now about ten years deep, Durant boasts four scoring titles, two Finals MVPs, two Championships and one league MVP.
In an era with LeBron James as the unprecedented best player in the league, Durant has managed to get right up to his level. Many even believe Durant took the title of best player when he drained a three over King James during the 2017 NBA Finals.
It’ll take more than that to dethrone the King though.
For Durant, he’s been sent to the All-Star game in nine of his eleven seasons and could easily be looking at five or six more appearances. What we don’t know is if all of those futuristic appearances will come as a member of the Golden State Warriors.
Durant, just like Thompson, has been rumored to potentially be considering the Lakers this offseason in an attempt to play alongside the great LeBron James. While nothing is set in stone, the superstar talent has a knack of pulling off intriguing moves like this.
That said, he’ll have about five more prime years left, and if the Dubs win the Finals like many project, it’ll be interesting if he makes the move to break up the potential four-peat. Durant will have all eyes on him next June hopefully for both the NBA Finals and peak offseason rumors.
For what it’s worth, Durant is certainly a top-25 player and should end his career among the top-10 to ever play the game.
