The Golden State Warriors have signed Tyler Ulis to the Exhibit 10 contract. Ulis played his last two seasons with the Phoenix Suns.

The former Wildcat, Tyler Ulis, was waived by the Phoenix Suns after two seasons with the team. He’ll now report to the Golden State Warriors training camp in hopes to join the reigning NBA champs.

Ulis will be hoping to impress at training camp and claim the Dubs second two-way contract. The biggest obstacle for Ulis has been his size, standing just 5-foot-10. Additionally, he hasn’t proven to be a reliable outside threat.

In 71 games last season, Ulis averaged 7.8 points per game and 12.0 points per 36 minutes. Without too much improvement from his rookie season, Phoenix decided Ulis wasn’t going to be part of their future.

At just 22-years-old, Ulis still has a future in the league. It would, however, be nice to see him develop a consistent three. That’ll be the next step in evolving his game. Being undersized, that might be the key to continuing his NBA career.

Ulis is the second point guard the Warriors have signed to an Exhibit 10 contract in the last few days. Really, the Exhibit 10 is just a contract that will give the player an additional bonus for signing post-training camp with the team’s G-League affiliate.

It’ll be interesting to see if Ulis makes that cut and stays with the Santa Cruz Warriors instead of potentially signing a huge contract overseas. Playing in over 130 NBA games certainly means Ulis is good enough to find a new home, whether that be in the G-League or overseas.

Ulis seems like a long-shot to make the Warriors actual roster with such an array of point guards on the team. Shaun Livingston, Steph Curry and Quinn Cook are three point guard-specific players with guaranteed contracts.

It’ll certainly be interesting to see how Ulis does in camp and if he continues to stay with the Warriors in whatever role award to him.

That said, we wish the best to Ulis and all the players in camp this upcoming week.
