Despite not winning any Finals MVP awards, Stephen Curry is still the most valuable player on the Golden State Warriors.

Stephen Curry hasn’t been getting the respect he deserves lately. This is because of the greatness of Kevin Durant has overshadowed Curry’s accomplishments. In reality, Curry is still balling at an elite level. He is the face of the Golden State Warriors.

In many ways, Curry is the most important player on the team. It’s a proven fact that the Warriors are better with Steph on the floor. Last season, Golden State’s offensive rating increased by 15 with Curry on the court. This was the biggest difference for any player on the team by a wide margin.

So, the offense is clearly at its peak when Curry is the one running the show. There is no doubt that the Warriors are nearly unstoppable when Steph is in the middle of one of his hot streaks. His ability to shoot a team out of the game is unmatched. No other player in the league is this deadly when on fire.

The system in which the Warriors play basketball was built around the shooting and playmaking skills of Curry. Without him at the forefront, the team loses their identity. Sure, they are still a powerhouse filled with three or more all-star players, but they aren’t the Warriors.

Steph is the key to the Warriors dominance. They are just another great team without him. With him, they are potentially the greatest team of all-time.

This can not be said about any other player on the roster. The Dubs already won a championship without Durant and were only one game away from winning a second title. Klay Thompson and Draymond Green are crucial but they aren’t more important than Steph.

Even though he hasn’t won a Finals MVP award, he is the most valuable player on the roster. He may not even be the most talented or skilled player. That title belongs to Durant. However, KD cannot match the importance of Curry’s leadership.
