Jordan Bell

With the core four in place, the Golden State Warriors are looking for a young big to cement himself at the center position, and second-year player Jordan Bell is in prime position to take on that responsibility.

Even with the addition of DeMarcus Cousins, there will be ample playing time, especially as a starter, for Bell given that Cousins is still in his rehab process.

The departure of Zaza Pachulia and the retirement of David West gives Bell a significant boost in minutes, on top of the added playing time he saw late in the season and going into the playoffs last year.

A young and athletic defender, Jordan Bell is exactly what is needed in today’s NBA where the pick and roll and switching onto a big is becoming the norm. His capability as a defender allows him to switch on a smaller player, and his vertical ability poses a threat to anybody trying to score inside the paint.

The last piece that Bell needs to add to his game is a reliable mid-range jump shot. There were moments last season and in the playoffs where his teammates would hand him the ball with no one around him, only for Bell to quickly look to hand the ball off somewhere else.

It’s natural for a rookie to be hesitant on taking the shot, but defenses started to back off and dare him to shoot. Bell is no longer a rookie, and he’ll need to build a confident jump shot to keep the opposing defenses in check.  -PH
