Golden State Warriors: 15 best sharpshooters of all-time
Mike Dunleavy Jr. had the luxury of joining the Warriors after quite the career with the Duke Blue Devils. As a sophomore, he won a national title with the Blue Devils, scoring 21 points including three 3-pointers in the championship game. He was selected third overall in the 2002 NBA Draft by the Warriors.
With Golden State, Dunleavy showed some promise. As a rookie, the Warriors eased him into the NBA slowly. He appeared in 79 games, just three starts, producing 5.7 points per game on 34.7 percent shooting from 3-point land. During the 2004-05 season, he shot a career-high 38.8 percent from behind the arc while averaging 13.4 points per contest.
He made a career-high six 3-pointers against the Atlanta Hawks back on March 12, 2005 to lead his team to a 105-92 victory. Dunleavy never eclipsed more than six 3-pointers in a game during his career in the NBA.
By his third season (2004-05), Dunleavy eclipsed 100 made 3-pointers for the first time. He made 107 3-pointers on 276 attempts that season, emerging as a threat from behind the arc. The following season, his production dropped a bit, prompting a change in the front office.
During the 2006-07 season, he was traded to the Indiana Pacers in a blockbuster trade that sent Al Harrington and Stephen Jackson to Golden State. Dunleavy finished his career with the Warriors ninth all-time in 3-point field goals with 363 makes and shot 34.8 percent from behind the arc during his tenure.
