It’s no secret that the Golden State Warriors are heavy favorites to win the 2018-19 NBA championship.

The Golden State Warriors are poised to win another NBA title this season. This would be their fourth championship in the past five years. A win this time would cap off their historic three-peat.

It doesn’t seem as if any team is capable of matching up with this Dubs team. Golden State arguably has a top five player at each of their starting positions. This will make it incredibly difficult for opponents to compete with them.

Furthermore, the Warriors have plenty of experience under their belt. With a total of four consecutive FInals trips, they have seen pretty much everything. They have been on both ends of historic 3-1 comebacks and have dealt with plenty of adversity.

The core unit of Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson will be entering their third season together. Any chemistry issues have pretty much been worked out at this point. The only looming issue will be inserting DeMarcus Cousins into the lineup.

If the Warriors manage to make things work with every player on the roster, it might be impossible to beat them in a seven-game series. The league has simply never seen an abundance of talent such as this before.

Could any modern day team contend with the Warriors? At full strength, it is unlikely. However, there are a few teams in the NBA that might be able to put up a fight.

In the Western Conference, teams like the Oklahoma City Thunder and Houston Rockets certainly have a chance. Each team has retooled themselves for a matchup with the Dubs and both franchises are thirsty for revenge against Golden State.

The most notable opponent the Warriors could face is the Boston Celtics. The Celtics are nearly as talented as the Dubs. Furthermore, the Celtics might have a deeper bench than Golden State. This makes them the biggest threat to the throne.

Stars such as Kyrie Irving, Gordon Hayward and Al Horford will contribute greatly in a potential Finals series. Then, young studs like Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Terry Rozier could be enough to propel the Celtics to a few wins.

So, while there is no reason to doubt the Warriors, the 2019 NBA Finals haven’t been decided just yet. Even if Golden State manages to get their squad at full strength, there are worthy opponents waiting for their chance to prove themselves.
