The Golden State Warriors are spoiled to choice when it comes to picking their main scoring option.

The Golden State Warriors are the most affluent team in professional basketball. They now contain an unprecedented five all-stars on their roster. Meanwhile, no other team in the league has more than three all-stars from last season.

There has never been a team in the history of the league as stacked as the Warriors. The Dubs have multiple players that could lead a team on their own. Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson, Stephen Curry and DeMarcus Cousins are all franchise caliber players.

Having to choose between this level of talent is the type of problem that any team would love to have. Deciding who is the number one option on this team isn’t easy.

In the case of the Warriors, it seems as if they have opted to play without a number on option. Throughout the course of their run, ball movement has been a key component to their success. Selflessness is their motto.

The Dubs have put in a system in which no player allows their ego to get in the way of winning. I truly believe that no one on the roster cares who is the first scoring option. Therefore, there is no real first option on the team.

The first option is always whoever has the open shot. Durant, Curry, Thompson and Draymond Green do not mind who takes the final shot of the game. All they want is to take the highest quality attempt and give their team the best chance at winning.

This is evident when watching them play. For example, look at the 2018 Western Conference Finals vs the Houston Rockets. At the end of Game 3, Curry willing gave the ball up to a wide-open Green to attempt the final shot. While the Dubs ended up losing the game,  no one blinked an eye at this decision.

Golden State has implemented this system for a reason. It’s impossible to keep a team of stars satisfied unless they drop their egos. Sacrifice is necessary and that is exactly what they have been doing.
