Warriors: Top five regular season Moments under Steve Kerr
By Calvin Fong
Honorable Mentions
The Warriors went from being a team on the rise to a having storybook ending to now being in the conversation as one of the greatest teams of all time. And while there have been plenty of great moments in between, not all can make the top five. Here are a few other noteworthy regular-season high points for the Warriors:
Curry’s record-shattering 402 3’s a season
Stephen Curry had set the record for most 3’s in a season with 272 in ‘14-15. That, in itself, was a major milestone. Steph had started climbing into the heights of 3-point lore. It’s difficult to truly fathom, then, how Curry made an unprecedented, unearthly 402 3’s the following year.

Even NBA 2K noted that Curry’s on-court performance in the ‘16-17 season was difficult to keep up with for a video game that tries to closely emulate players’ skill levels. Curry was on another level that season, and we’ll likely never see anything like his 3-point prowess that year again.
Warriors start 24-0 to mark best start in NBA history
With Steve Kerr sidelined with back issues, Luke Walton stepped up as head coach of the ’15-16 season and led the Warriors to the best start in NBA history. The Warriors didn’t miss a beat without their head coach, as they reeled off 24 straight wins to the start the season, giving them a strong boost on their path to a record-breaking 73 wins.
Warriors Crush Cavaliers on MLK Day 2017
While the Warriors have a history of beating the Cavs on MLK Day, their win on January 16, 2017 was truly remarkable. In the Warriors’ first season with Durant, the NBA world was curious how the new-look Warriors would react to their arch-rivals in the East.
In their first meeting, the Cavs edged out the Warriors in Cleveland on Christmas Day with a Kyrie Irving game-winner. Their second meeting in Oracle, however, was a different story.
The Warriors blasted the Cavaliers, blitzing them for 78 points in the first half en route to a 35-point victory, and sending a message that KD could propel them to new heights that the Cavs couldn’t keep up with.
Oracle exploded with each bucket, and Cavs coach Tyronn Lue’s face during the blowout said it all.
The following year, the Cavs revamped their entire roster in an effort to match the Warriors’ length and athleticism. The result of the Warriors-Cavs MLK Day rematch that year? Another Warriors blowout.
