#5: Curry Breaks Record for 3’s in a Game

On November 4, 2016, Steph Curry was truly dismal.  Against the Lakers, the sharpshooter went 0-10 from three-point range.  A shooting slump seemed imminent.

But three days later, Curry made history by setting the record for the most 3’s made in a single game: 13.  Curry had hit 12 3’s in a game twice before.  But against the Pelicans on Nov. 7, he let the world know who the 3-point king was, much to the delight of the raucous Oracle crowd.

After his record-breaking 13th triple, Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry called timeout.

Perhaps it was because his team was trailing in the final minutes of a game.  But perhaps it was because, as commentator Jim Barnett noted, the former Warriors coach just wanted a “celebration timeout” out of respect for what they were witnessing.

The Oracle crowd rose to their feet, Curry celebrated with his teammates, and the elusive record of most 3’s in a game now belonged to the greatest 3-point shooter of our generation.
