Golden State Warriors given extremely high probability to three-peat
The Golden State Warriors were already the favorite to repeat; however, the NBA GMs confirmed that they’ll likely repeat as NBA Champs.
The Golden State Warriors signed the high-profile free agent DeMarcus Cousins this offseason, and while they might’ve three-peated prior to signing Cousins, they’re even more dynamic with the added star power.
That said, it’s not a shocker the NBA GMs chose the Dubs to conquer the league again. They gave the Warriors an 87% chance to three-peat, per the NBA annual GM survey. Boston and Houston both came in tied for second at a 7% chance.
The Golden State Warriors are truly a plethora of talent. They have five 2018 All-Stars, and while Cousins might not come back to his full strength, he won’t have to for the Dubs to have a terrific season, one reason he signed in Golden State.
The Dubs will still have four stars, the core four.
Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry seem to be doing their thing and prepping to complete their three-peat. They’ve maintained dominance while hitting their late 20’s by being such elite snipers, both averaging over three triples per game.
On top of arguably the league’s best shooters ever, the Dubs also boast four-time scoring champ and former MVP Kevin Durant. Durant, just like the splash brothers, continues to excel from behind the arc. He neared a career-high with his 2.5 threes per game last season.
These three would already give any team an unfair advantage, yet the Dubs still boast more elite talent.
Draymond Green and DeMarcus Cousins will eventually round out the frontcourt. Green is one of the league’s best glue guys. He does it all. He can defend, rebound and play make at an elite level.
Curry, Thompson, Durant and Green are all unique in their own way and have shown a nice ability to mesh with each other easily. The addition of DeMarcus Cousins is just how the Golden State Warriors tease the NBA.
Now with five legit stars, it seems likely this team is headed for the three-peat, but with solid squads like Boston, Houston and LA also being built, they’ll have to actually put in the work to get this third straight title.
But, I, and apparently the vast majority of general managers, believe they will pull it off.
