Steph Curry’s ankles are a major concern for the Golden State Warriors. There should be a rock solid plan to protect the ligaments of the most important player of the team.

Too many times have we seen Steph Curry bend his ankles in an unnatural way, and while gasping for air, we have wondered how this could happen over and over again. That’s been a reality for the Golden State Warriors over the last few seasons.

Does Steph get the right protection?

This question must have puzzled a few basketball minds over the past few years. The Golden State Warriors are surrounded by the best physical team they could possibly wish for, but it seems odd, that superstar Curry, time and time again, gets injured – especially with his right ankle.

The ankles are easier to protect than a knee, so why does this happen again and again?

Last year the point guard twisted his ankle four times, but his trouble started way back. In his second year he stepped on Blake Griffin’s foot in pre-season, and later in December that year, he hurt the ankle again against the Spurs. After a couple of other twists and turns, he underwent surgery to tighten up ligaments, but that right ankle kept haunting the MVP several years after.

Steph is still fragile! We all hold our breath every time he jumps in the pile of bodies after a layup.

But why?

Why can’t we be sure that he is well protected in an area of the body where you can actually do something? How can Steph’s ankle bend like that time after time? Can’t he play with an ankle device or a bunch of tape, or will that inhibit his ability to move without discomfort?

Clearly, he can’t jump around like some nervous racehorse, afraid to get shot if it breaks a leg, but Steph needs to adapt to more efficient support.

It´s understandable that he wants to roam the court uninhibited, but when an ankle bends more than 90 degrees over and over again there’s clearly something wrong. Most of Steph’s mishaps are hard to look at, and the physical team of the Warriors need to do a better job protecting their star. From what we have seen in his career so far, Curry tweaks and twists too much.

So again: Our former MVP needs to adapt to more efficient support.

Next. DeMarcus Cousins will play the mentor role for the Warriors. dark

We can’t hold our breath forever – and neither should Steph!
