Golden State Warriors: 5 Players who always kill the Warriors
By Tony Pesta
2. Kyrie Irving
Playoff averages vs Warriors: 26.5 PPG, 4.8 APG, 2.4 SPG
Kyrie Irving has had some of his best career games versus the Golden State Warriors. From his three NBA Finals appearances to his regular season performances, Irving plays his best when matched up against the Warriors.
In the first NBA Finals game of his career, Irving put up 23 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, 4 steals and 2 blocks. One of those blocks was a game-saving chase down on Stephen Curry in the final seconds of regulation. Sadly, Irving suffered a knee injury in overtime and missed the rest of the series.
Then, his 2015-16 NBA Finals was one for the history books. Down 3-1, Kyrie helped contribute to the greatest comeback in NBA history. In Game 5, Irving dropped an insanely efficient 41 points on 71 percent shooting. In the last four games, Uncle Drew averaged a cool 30.8 points per game as the Cleveland Cavaliers won the series in seven games.
The 2016 Finals included possibly the most clutch shot the league has ever seen. Irving drilled the go-ahead bucket to give Cleveland the lead and eventual win. This is just one of the numerous cold-blooded shots Irving has nailed in his career. Another notable one being his game-winner over the Dubs on Christmas day.
This season, the Boston Celtics are expected to meet the Warriors in the NBA Finals. This would be the fourth time Irving faces the Dubs in a playoff series.
