Klay Thompson vs Jaylen Brown/Marcus Smart

Alright, so point guard is out of the way. Shooting guard is going to be a battle between Jaylen Brown and Klay Thompson with a little Marcus Smart as well. While Brown certainly may take a big leap this season, he’d have to take a gigantic step to approach Klay’s level.

Thompson has reached the All-Star game in four straight seasons and averaged over threes triples per game en route to being one of the league’s best two-way players. He also received 10% of the vote for the best shooting guard in that same GM survey.

More from Blue Man Hoop

He’s a developed scorer and has one of the best shooting strokes the league has ever seen.

As for Brown, he more than doubled his per game total from 6.6 to 14.5 points per game. That’s quite the jump for the now third-year guard. However, we’re comparing him to Klay Thompson, one of the league’s best shooting guards.

The Celtics are a solid team all around. Brown is just another example of their plethora of talent, but the dynasty that is the Warriors are just on another level.

Already a great defender, Brown’s goal for this season should be to snag that coveted All-Star appearance. Whether he can do it not is a completely different question. For now, it’s Klay all the way, and to be fair, that’s really not too debatable.

Although the Celtics do have Marcus Smart, a gritty, hard-nosed defender that they bring off the bench. Smart will play an intricate role this season and could be the best off the bench for either team.
