The world-class Golden State Warriors still have a roster spot remaining. That said, who should they sign with it?

The Golden State Warriors have 14 players guaranteed for this season, and then they have one player, Damion Janes, on board with a two-way contract. Teams now have seventeen spots to fill, and as we see only have two more remaining with the season just a few weeks away.

Those numbers are also assuming that Patrick McCaw lands on the Dubs roster once again. While his situation is still up in the air, the Warriors have one spot left with McCaw, and it’s really anyone’s call who is going to be chosen.

There are the obvious picks like Nick Young, the Dubs second unit sniper last season that’s still unsigned. Young didn’t play too much and wasn’t insanely impactful for Golden State, but he did serve his purpose and performed well in his sole season.

A player like Jamal Crawford could also find his way to the Bay Area. However, it seems a bit unlikely that Crawford takes the veteran’s minimum just to play for a ring. The Dubs and Crawford have reportedly already spoken on a contract and have yet to make anything work.

Other than those two, there are several low-key training camp additions that might work their way on the Warriors roster. Alfonzo McKinnie is one of them. He’s averaged double figures over the Warriors last two preseason games and continues to at least produce in the preseason.

The Warriors don’t have any huge concerns when it comes to depth. They have at least three centers to back up Cousins while he’s still recovering from his Achilles tear. That said, Golden State might end up signing a player who might even see much court time, or at least that’s what it’s starting to look like.

While that’s certainly not ideal, the candidates for that last roster spot are thin. As we saw, there are a few veterans and a few younger talents available, yet few would be interesting in signing for the little amount Golden State can offer.

You retain talent by paying them well, and all Golden State can now offer is a winning environment.

We’ll certainly be watching and waiting for that last roster addition.
