8. Minnesota Timberwolves

Even with all of the Jimmy Butler drama, this Minnesota Timberwolves team is uber talented. It won’t be easy for the 8th seed but they will make it. Butler will play the entire season with the T-Wolves. Karl-Anthony Towns will continue to develop into one of the best young players in the NBA. Andrew Wiggins window is closing but this season will finally be the year he does it. Butler will push him to the next level.

9. San Antonio Spurs

Yes, the Spurs playoff run will end. I did not have them out initially but with the loss of Dejounte Murray for the season. They still have Demar DeRozan and LaMarcus Aldrige but it won’t be enough. Murray is a good defender and this will be a huge loss to them. With Manu Ginobili retiring and Tony Parker leaving, this will also be the end of an era with coach Gregg Popovich retiring at the end of the season. Moment of silence, please.

10. New Orleans Pelicans

The Pelicans have the talent with Anthony Davis alone, but I don’t think it will be enough. Yes, they added Julius Randle which helps take some pressure off Davis. They did lose Rajon Rondo which hurts them on the defensive end and the distribution of the ball. Watch out for Elfrid Payton going back home to Louisiana with them to have a decent year.
