The Golden State Warriors continued the family business and signed DeMarcus Cousins brother, Jaleel Cousins, to an Exhibit 10 contract.

This will be the second inner-family addition the Golden State Warriors have made this offseason as they signed Damion Lee, Stephen Curry future brother-in-law to a two-way contract. That’s in no way taking away from either Cousins or Lee as a player though.

Shams Charania of the Athletic was one of the first to report on the signing.

At 6-foot-11, Cousins stands the same height as brother DeMarcus. His trek to the NBA has been a bit more difficult though. He left the University of South Florida after playing two seasons, averaging 8.5 points and 7.9 rebounds per game his sophomore season.

Cousins hasn’t seen the court for an NBA team yet, but he did manage to find his way onto a G-Leauge team two seasons ago. In his 31 games, Cousins averaged just 5.1 points and 3.0 rebounds per game.

Ultimately, Cousins may not ever see time for the parent team in Golden State, but he will, at the very least, get a chance to prove himself again. Success and grit seems to be in his genes as brother DeMarcus has found immense success in the NBA, so we’ll see if Cousins and find his groove with Santa Cruz.

This Exhibit 10 contract is a more recent contract that’s being implemented by the NBA. Per ESPN’s Bobby Marks, here’s how they work.

"A player signed with an Exhibit 10 can also be converted to a two-way contract by the first day of the regular season. The bonus would then be rescinded and the two-way contract would apply."

That said, Cousins will have the opportunity to seek the Dubs second two-way contract as well. He’ll have competition for the spot but should have a legitimate chance to obtain the contract.

From a personnel standpoint, the Dubs have a combo guard signed in Lee, just signed a combo forward in McKinnie, and could use the presence of another center on the roster. Cousins could be likely addition, but it’d have to be prior to the season’s commencement.
