No. 1: The Dubs may not be as deep as we hoped

The Dubs have no need for depth as they pose some of the league’s most talented players in their starting five. However, as we’ve seen before, this upcoming 82-game season is a long, rough ride for many of these high-value players.

Quinn Cook, Andre Iguodala, Jacob Evans and many other second unit players will be asked to step up and maintain the lead, a task they struggled with last night. While still the preseason, it’s difficult to see double-digit leads blown when the subs get put in.

Prior to the Dubs preseason finale, there hadn’t been a single non-big four member score over 15 points in a game. While 15 is a good bit for some of these players in the time allotted, it would’ve been nice to see someone stand out.

However, in their finale, we saw Quinn Cook, their 2017-2018 addition, break out and score 20 points along with center Damian Jones score 16. So, there is hope there, but more consistent scoring from Jonas Jerebko, Shaun Livingston and other second/third unit players would’ve been nice.

That said, we’ll be back to evaluate the Dubs second unit several times throughout the season and hopefully improvement is made.
