No. 2: The winner of the fight to start at center remains unfinished

Damian Jones with that 16-point breakout performance in their Dubs second matchup with LA might’ve made him the favorite, but it’s certainly not over.

Following Kerr’s media day comment about not forcing Draymond to start at center, it’s been a growing question at who will be their fifth starter. Many, including myself, thought the obvious answer was 2017 second-round pick Jordan Bell.

However, Bell scored just 26 points in the five preseason games, seeing time in each game, and didn’t quite showcase his full skill set any point throughout the preseason. That said, Bell’s still a strong option to start, but he might not win the battle.

The other option is Kevon Looney. Looney totaled 32 points throughout the preseason and managed to slide into the starting lineup at times as well. Each of three actually saw some time with the starting unit which makes predicting the winner even more challenging.

This fight remains unchanged. Let’s also remember that Kerr said he “would love” to give Jones a chance to start in late August. With his 16-point performance, he might’ve also given him a huge reason to believe in the 7-foot, 23-yeard-old the starting role.
