The league opted not to suspend DeMarcus Cousins and Stephen Curry for the Golden State Warriors season opener Tuesday night.

The Golden State Warriors will get to see their wonderboy Stephen Curry on the court for what will be a highly anticipated season opener home against Oklahoma City. Curry and Cousins avoided suspension for being on the court during a scuffle during a preseason brawl.

While it might not matter for Cousins, it’d be a real downer if Curry was suspended in such a game for a preseason act. However, per Yahoo’s Chris Haynes, Curry and Cousins will not be suspended.

Haynes said this regarding the league’s typical actions surrounding a situation like this.

"The league tries to grant leniency in most cases when it’s a dead-ball situation as players on the bench usually step on the court to congratulate or communicate with their teammates."

Here’s the play.

It wasn’t quite worthy of the ‘brawl’ title as the ejection was pretty tame. However, as you can clearly see, Cousins and Curry did get up and step onto the court. It’s a good decision not to suspend the superstar guard.

For Cousins, due to his Achilles injury, won’t be seeing time on the court for quite some time anyway. Once back, he’s expected to also be a huge part of this Warriors offense.

As for Curry, he’s expected to have another huge season. He told us earlier this offseason that this had been the best preparatory summer of his career. With added superstar talent around him, it’s likely Curry’s numbers will remain constant with how they’ve been the last few seasons.

His impact, however, may increase. The league’s best shooter of all-time, Curry should be able to showcase his skill set yet again for his home crowd. And, since the elite guard is often times injured, it’ll be nice to see him on the court for opening night.
