The Golden State Warriors Patrick McCaw is reportedly ghosting his teammates with his contract situation still a mystery to most.

Patrick McCaw and the Golden State Warriors are clearly not on the game page.

The Athletic’s Marcus Thompson II reported that McCaw and his teammates have had much if any communication since the start of training camp.

"A few Warriors players talked to him before camp, advising him on what to do. But as his holdout has continued, he has not responded to several players checking in on him. Veterans, champions—the kind of men McCaw should be listening to—are being shut out."

McCaw just finished his second season in the league and is reportedly seeking a new, higher-valued contract. The Dubs offered him a two-year deal after his qualifying offer expired. He rejected that deal.

Without interest from around the league, many aren’t sure how this situation will progress. Will the Dubs go ahead and sign a 15th player to the roster? They have just about finalized their roster but might be holding out for McCaw to snag the last spot.

The thing about McCaw’s situation is he’s using leverage he doesn’t have.

Rodney Hood earlier this offseason was in a similar situation. Hood eventually opted into his qualifying offer in hopes to prove himself this season and then seek that high-value, long-term contract next offseason.

That would’ve been the ideal path for McCaw; however, McCaw, whether on his own or with advice from his inner circle, is not taking that path. For McCaw, ghosting his teammates might not be the best play either.

After all, the 22-year-old has only 128 NBA games under his belt and has truly not proven enough to get a new contract. During both seasons, McCaw has averaged exactly 4.0 points per game. McCaw leaves quite a bit to be desired and needs to understand his value a bit better.
