Impact

Durant leaving causes Klay Thompson to stay with the Warriors, as ownership is both able to pay him what he wants and promise him he can spend as much time at home as he wants with his dog, Rocco.  Klay appreciates the offer and re-signs.

The following year, Draymond is able to stay for the super-max.  The Warriors’ core now consists of the three stars it started out with–Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green.

Joe Lacob is a guy who will win at any cost and will likely do whatever it takes to win another championship.  No doubt the Warriors owner will go after any big-name free agent on the market that he can afford.

Most Warriors fans would be pretty confident trotting out the trio of Curry, Thompson, and Green every night.  Especially if Bob Myers is able to sign some veterans to make for a stronger bench now that Iguodala and Livingston are nearing the twilights of their careers.

Will they win more championships?  Maybe.

Will they be able to get past Durant and LeBron’s Lakers?  Maybe not.

But the Warriors will still be an entertaining team to watch, as long as Curry is on the team.  They’ll still have their share of ESPN and NBA TV appearances.  They’ll have a state-of-the-art stadium that should be quite a spectacle to see on TV since no middle-class Warriors fan can afford to be there in person.

And that’ll be the end of the dynasty.
