Golden State Warriors vs Utah Jazz: Dubs win in offensive onslaught via late game heroics
From early on, the Golden State Warriors vs Utah Jazz was all offense, all the time.
The Golden State Warriors dug themselves a hole early. They were down just two after the first, yet after giving up 47 points in the second, they took a 12-point difference to the locker room. The 81 points Utah scored was the most in franchise history for a first half.
Yes, you read that right.
However, the always-electric Steph Curry turned it up in the second half. For the Dubs, this game was a tale of two halves.
Durant led the team in the first half, scoring 24 points. Then, the second half was all the Chef Curry show. Passing, scoring, even a bit of defensive mixed in their highlighted a terrific half from the league’s only unanimous MVP.
Curry tried to get his spark going as the Dubs headed into halftime, yet sadly, this halfcourt bucket was after the clock expired.
Down double figures at several times throughout the game, the Dubs were down over 15 points in the second half and still made a comeback, taking a lead in the fourth quarter and going back and forth throughout much of the fourth.
The Dubs ended up winning by one after a wild finish in which Durant missed a shot that was tipped in by Jonas Jerebko.
Following the game, Curry hopped on the mic and explained how teams give the Warriors their best shot. He also said that “We kind of balance each other” when talking about how he and Durant can flip the script and take over in different quarters.
Curry ended the game with 31 points and eight assists while Durant topped that with 38 points. KD also chipped in nine rebounds and seven assists. Green and Thompson combined for 26, and the bench contributed a total of 25 points.
The Golden State Warriors will be back in action on Sunday again the Denver Nuggets. That game will be another must-watch as the Dubs try to start the season 3-0.
