For the Dubs, understanding Gobert and how he plays will be pivotal to coming out of Utah with a win. This could also be a matchup that we eventually see in the postseason as Utah is expected to take another step forward this season.
Last season, the Dubs played the Jazz four times. Three of those times, the NBA’s most electric offense was held to less than 100 points per game. They averaged 115 and only hit that in one game, a 126-101 home blowout victory.
To make matters even worse, Rudy Gobert didn’t play in that 25-point blowout. He’s an animal defensively and has a significant impact on how opposing offenses strategize. Also, in every matchup featuring Gobert, the Dubs shot less than 46%, over 4% worse than their season average.
Watch for this. The Dubs offense and how they fluently move against a stout Jazz defense will be extremely important for the overall outcome. If they can hit 100 points, expect a victory.
