Golden State Warriors vs Utah Jazz: Takeaways from a close road win
The Utah Jazz are a real threat
Playing on the road in Utah is a tall task in itself, as the term “home-court advantage” rings just as loud as the crowd in Salt Lake City. But add-on top of that the roster that the Jazz have built, and you’ve got a team that showed it can compete with the defending champs.
It was just game two of the regular season, but it felt like a playoff atmosphere (perhaps foreshadowing a future playoff series?) Utah has a great perimeter shooter in Joe Ingles, an interior defensive force with Rudy Gobert, a clutch star in the making with Donovan Mitchell, and perhaps their greatest advantage is the quality of depth they have with their role players.
Yes, it was only game two on the season and perhaps the Jazz really did have a “perfect night” that can’t always be replicated, but going punch for punch with the Warriors showed they are indeed a real threat in an already stacked Western Conference.
While it’s often the Warriors get worried about a team not laced with superstars, the Jazz are certainly going to be a team for them to keep an eye on this season.
