Golden State Warriors vs Utah Jazz: Takeaways from a close road win
Jerebko’s revenge game and initiation
Based on his preseason play there was already rumblings of possible cause for concern regarding Jonas Jerebko’s role with this Warriors team.
He was brought in to fill that stretch-four role in Steve Kerr’s offense, but in the sample minutes, we saw a player that struggled to hit from beyond the arc and looked like he wasn’t yet comfortable in this offense.

If there was ever a way to silence those critics and officially “become a part” of this team, it was when Jerebko sealed the comeback win with a last-second tip in off of Durant’s missed shot. To add the icing on the cake, it came at the expense of his former team, whom Klay Thompson noted “didn’t want him.”
It was great to see the way his teammates celebrated with him at the end of the game. Perhaps a little premature for just the second game of the season for the defending champs, but I’m sure they’re going to enjoy every minute of that moment and draw upon it going forward into the season.
The Warriors knew they’d be tested in just their second game of the season, but they channeled their championship mindset to complete the comeback. Perhaps more importantly, they know what they’re getting from the Jazz as a potential threat in the conference and can draw upon this matchup as they carry on the regular season series with Utah.
