Myth No.2- The bench is trash

Here is the reality of the bench situation: the bench doesn’t play a long period of time together.

The most minutes a bench-dominated lineup played together for was 7.2 minutes and it occurred once. Most of the time during the game: a. two or three starters are with bench players or b. The bench plays under 6 minutes together.

The question is who two starters usually play with the bench?

*drumroll*

Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson.

Yes, you read right.

The Durant and Thompson duo played with the bench twenty-six times last season. Don’t worry Curry fans, the Durant-Curry duo was behind by a close second.

The point is all the fans who are calling the bench trash are lowkey calling their favorite player trash because starters usually play with the bench most of the time for a while. Unleash the bench, let’s see if they can fully dominate this season.

Players like Quinn Cook and Andre Iguodala can maintain a lead, so we’ll see if they’re given the opportunity to this season.
