Golden State Warriors: Top 5 biggest threats to the throne
By Tony Pesta
1. Boston Celtics
The number one threat to the Golden State Warriors is the Boston Celtics. The Celtics, although struggling a bit to start the season, are the only team in the NBA that can match the Warriors depth and star status.
With proven stars such as Kyrie Irving, Al Horford and Gordon Hayward, the Celtics also have young studs like Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Terry Rozier and Marcus Smart. This sheer depth and abundance of talent is enough to make them competitive in a potential NBA Finals series.
However, the Celtics have more than just talent. This team is built perfectly to match with the Dubs. Boston has a large number of players that can switch 1-5 on defense and hold their own in 1-on-1 situations. This is crucial for any team facing the Warriors.
Furthermore, Boston has enough firepower to go shot for shot with Golden State. Kyrie Irving has already shown that he is capable of dueling the Warriors on the highest level and Jason Tatum appears to be ready to face off against anybody.
The most important thing is that the Celtics are on the path to becoming a great all-around team. Ball movement and selflessness has been a key component to the Warriors success and the Celtics are currently in the developmental stages of this type of team chemistry.
The Celtics still have some work to do before they can click together as a unit, but once they do, Boston will be making a hard push for the crown.
