The Golden State Warriors are off to a hot start to the 2018-19 NBA season, but not many people are talking about Draymond Green‘s contributions.

Capturing the NBA’s spotlight is a tough thing to do. With tons of stars all around the league, it takes a truly unique player to stand out above the rest. For Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors, it is even harder for him to shine while he plays beneath the likes of Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.

Despite being one of the most versatile players in the NBA, Green has been mostly stuck in the shadows of his superstar teammates. In fact, the disrespect to Draymond has gone far enough for the voters to leave him off of the All-NBA Defensive First team last season. Green, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year at the time, wasn’t deemed good enough for a spot on the All-Defensive first team.

Green has acknowledged the fact that he was snubbed and claims that he is using it as motivation to win the Defensive Player of the Year award this season. He is determined to prove everyone wrong.

However, the underappreciation of Green goes deeper than just the voters. In the eyes of many people, Draymond is not even a top 25 player in the league. He is dubbed as a glorified role player and his accomplishments are attributed to the fact that he plays on an elite team.

In this article, we will look to debunk the idea that Green is simply riding the Warriors bandwagon. Hopefully, this will showcase how special of a player he truly is.
