One word to describe the Santa Cruz Warriors victory last night: amazing.
The Santa Cruz Warriors hosted the new Stockton Kings (formerly known as the Reno Bighorns), the Sacramento Kings G-League affiliate at the Kaiser Permanente Arena last night and there were a lot of sights to behold in last night’s win.
Firstly, the arena hosted not only the Stockon Kings, but also Golden State’s Quinn Cook, DeMarcus Cousins and Stephen Curry.
Many will remember Quinn Cook, oh, I mean Champ as a member of the Santa Cruz Warriors last season with Damian Lee and Michael Gbinije where he averaged 25.3 points on 9.3-of-17.6 shooting and was the first 50/40/90 player in G League history.
DeMarcus Cousins was there to see younger brother Jaleel Cousins is currently the center for the Santa Cruz Warriors while Steph was there to see brother-in-law Damion Lee. Damion Lee to say the least has been excellent for the Sea Dubs.
Currently, he is scoring 27 points on 11-of-16.5 shooting averaging 5.5 defensive rebounds, 1.5 steal and 2.5 assists.
The Warriors, just like their parent team, have kicked the season off to an excellent start. They’re a solid 2-0 after their latest victory and continue to impress. With both two-way players on the current roster, it’ll be interesting to see how they develop over the next few seasons.
Overall, the Warriors have been great, winning both of their first two games by ten or more points. Their success comes following a hot start from their NBA affiliate as well.
With players like Damion Lee continuing to score efficiently, it’ll be interesting to see if the actually Warriors will call him up sooner rather than later.
This is a culture that they’ve built. They win at every level, and it something the coaching staff and entire staff on both teams is no doubt proud of. That said, we’ll keep trying to maintain a close eye on some of these G-League games.
