Stephen Curry will fix the Golden State Warriors problems
By Tony Pesta
Since Stephen Curry has been sidelined with an injury, the Golden State Warriors have fallen into a wave of controversy.
The Golden State Warriors have always been one of the most cohesive teams in the league. They rarely have any problems on or off the court with each other and seem to all get along together pretty well. However, things have changed since Stephen Curry has been injured.
I’m sure most people already know the current situation, but just in case you don’t, here is a quick recap. In a game versus the Los Angeles Clippers, Draymond Green took the ball and attempted to make a play to win the game. As the final buzzer of regulation sounded, Green stumbled and lost possession and the game went into overtime.
As the Warriors headed back to the bench for the break into between periods, Kevin Durant expressed his frustration on the last play and questioned why he didn’t receive the ball. Green responded with hostility and attacked Durant on his character and loyalty to the team. It is reported that Draymond went as far as to challenge KD to leave the Warriors this summer.
Of course, these comments were only magnified when the Dubs suspended Draymond one game without pay. The Warriors won that game despite Green’s absence, however, things would be much different when Green did return. The Warriors got dominated on the court by the Houston Rockets in a 107-86 blowout.
While Green and Durant attempted to put their differences aside and play ball, the tension was clear between the two-star teammates. Neither KD or Green have given the press any reason to believe that this beef has been settled. Green has even stated that he doesn’t care if the issue is resolved because he believes they will win games regardless.
Well, Green could be right, but team chemistry is still massively important. That is why the return of two-time MVP, Stephen Curry, will fix all of the Warriors problems. Curry is the key to this teams success and the energy he brings to the court is infectious to everyone on the roster.
Before being injured, Curry was averaging 29.5 points and 6.1 assists per game. His superb play led the Warriors to a 10-2 record. Since Steph has been gone, the Dubs have gone an even 2-2.
Once Curry returns he will become the middleman in this beef between Durant and Green. I have no doubt in my mind that Steph’s presence on the court will be the saving grace to the teams’ relationship and once the Dubs start to rattle off a few wins, the squad will forget this altercation even happened.
