Stephen Curry has already won two MVP awards but hey may be on pace to win his third.

This season started off with a truly special streak from Stephen Curry. Curry had always been known for changing the game with his 3-point shooting but his start to the 2018-19 NBA season was something we had never before.

Through 12 games, Curry is averaging 29.5 points and 6.5 assists per game. He is knocking down an all-time high 5.2 3-pointers a game and has been torching teams. Sadly, his run was halted by a groin injury that has caused him to miss the last six games.

Despite not being able to play, Curry’s case for the MVP award has actually grown stronger. Since Curry has been gone, the Warriors have plummeted into one of their worst slumps in the past five seasons. They have lost four of their last five games by an average margin of 10.5 points per game and are looking more lost than ever.

Problems between two stars, Kevin Durant and Draymond Green, has made things even worse for the Warriors. Without Curry on the floor to restore balance, the team is struggling to pull it together.

This recent slump from the Warriors has given Steph the evidence needed to debunk one of the biggest factors holding him back from winning MVP. Since Durant joined the Warriors, no one believed that Curry could be considered for the award since he is playing on such a loaded team.

However, now that we have seen what this team is like without Curry on the floor, it’s clear how valuable Steph really is. Curry is the embodiment of the entire system that the Warriors run. He is the key to their success. If there is no Curry then there is no success for the Dubs.

Next. Stephen Curry will fix the Warriors problems. dark

Because of this, I believe that Curry’s absence and the Warriors struggles are strengthening the argument for Steph to win the 2018-19 NBA MVP award.
