Golden State Warriors: Power ranking the top five frontrunners for Kevin Durant
Washington Wizards
Not on many analysts radar, the Washington Wizards are a dark horse candidate to sign Kevin Durant. For starters, it’s where he’s from. He’d have the “LeBron James back to Cleveland to bring his hometown a ring” appeal.
He’s done everything he needs to in order to go down as one of the greats. Might as well do what James did and return home to bring the Wizards a championship, a site the organization hasn’t seen in over 30 years.
The team is currently in disarray. With three All-Star-level talents, the Wizards just haven’t put it together, sitting near the bottom of the Eastern Conference. As John Wall seems to be the odd man out, if he’s traded, it’d open up a perfect opportunity for Durant to head to DC.
Similar to LeBron returning to Cleveland, Durant would join a Wizards team with an already underrated star in Bradley Beal. That team could run the table in the East and make the East potentially the deeper conference for the time in over half a decade.
This is the fairytale story we are all hoping for if the Dubs can’t retain him..
